I had sent the article to a Finnish friend who is a member of the same club. He writes back, "Good article about Emily. She is a Canadian gift for Finnish orienteering. It is a pleasure to keep her on our team."
Keep? I was hoping it was just a loan. Canada and Ottawa should have Emily back for NAOC 2022.
Very nice article. We are all proud of her.
A great read- way to go Emily
You can view the whole event (3hr28min) on YouTube athttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYy1KvGf3yk

Enjoy the Finnish broadcast! What happened to corona restrictions...
Thanks Tapio! I followed the entire replay (partly on FF), while watching the GPS tracking replay on the other screen. :-)
I did wonder during the entire broadcast if Emily would attempt to speak Finnish during the interview, but when she got the questions in English she didn't need to. I do suspect that she has picked up yet another language during her years in Finland. :-)
But she seemed to speak her English with a Finnish accent, didn't she?
But what were those geese and manatees advertising? That looked like a clever series of ads.
insurance company ads - live you life while you still can, after being reborn as a manatee (or whatever) it is too late (for cycling or whatever)
EWWW! That is a macabre theme for ads. Oh those FINNS!
Emily also has a very sweet Instagram account. Look up ekkempy.
So great to see Emily with her Finnish teammates standing on the podium and seeing their joy about their win. I can't find the GPS tracking reply of the entire event. Does anyone have the link?

But warning: the terrain and forest look so incredible you will want to learn Finnish, get yourself to the nearest consulate and apply for a resident visa, and book an airline ticket, and prepare to move to Finland full time, all in about 3 days.
@MJChilds: Start here, then go to SM-viesti 2020, Viestiliiga 4/6 on Sep 20 http://www.tulospalvelu.fi/gps/
