swoop sometimes but I don't find them as bad as magpies. We have been feeding a young magpie at the back of our place but he must have put the word out and now we get about 20! Hope they pass on to their rels that we are nice people and we don't get swooped in future :-)
I don't mind the butcherbirds too much, although we had a bad one in Roseville when we lived there.
However, I found that feeding magpies didn't work. There was a bad one on the Barton Hiway, so next time I brought some food. No good, he would take the food, then swoop straight for me, more food, another swoop, repeat 7 times.
Was it the gourmet bird food or just stock standard?
The first bird I ever got attacked by in Australia was a Butcher bird, I think I've only been swooped once by one in the intervening 30 years
