If you look closely with good lighting, some of the contours are magenta/purple rather than brown, and would have tag lines to indicate they’re depressions on a field-checked map - a karttapullautin quirk I think. I don’t think the Mocanaqua map is 100% accurate with the magenta vs. brown, but it gets it most of the time. Janet and I were up there today (Thursday) - weather was good - 70s and mostly sunny.

Wow. Noticed that some of the contours were purple but didn't connect that those were the depressions. Thanks!

Yeah - turns out I had to be home for something else today anyway so glad I went yesterday. Glad you had good weather.

FWIW, here's a view of the "shelter" you saw on that one leg.

There are a few other photos after that one from Mocanaqua.

Did you take a detour after the finish to see what the large fence enclosed (the mouth of a bat hibernaculum)?

So, I saw that shelter out there a few years ago and have been meaning to report it to the SF rangers, but keep forgetting.

There are sometimes lots of guys out there on ATVs. So I imagine they're the ones maintaining it. But they were super active from March to June and seem to have stopped now.

We saw ATV tracks yesterday on the way to Adv 2 start...despite the signs against them.

Greg, if you report it you can use my photo if you want. It's a pretty good size structure despite the ragged tarps.
