What was Dani's time? Did she break 6 minutes? I think Lyn should throw down her stuff....

Dani wasn't trying to post a new PR when she ran with me. She had already posted a 5:52 on the much cooler and less humid previous Saturday. Her job yesterday was to get me through the first half close to 3:00. I did 3:03. She was about 5 seconds ahead of me at the finish, having run the last steep downhill with an untied shoelace.

I agree that it would be great fun to see what Lyn could do with a downhill mile.

5:52, impressive... I wonder if I could pull off one of those...

What are the rules? Any downhill you like?

Yes. Dani scouted three possibles in our area and finally settled on Mile Hill/Fish and Game. The actual Spring Street Mile course is not as steep as our choice. I'd probably be unable to break 7:00 there.

How steep is too steep? It looks like yours has about 350 feet of drop. I had a few places in mind near my house that seemed pretty steep to me, but when I checked out the specs, they appear to be considerably less. Then I went for the real serious one, and it's something like 580 feet. At some point, steeper surely stops being better.

The steepest part of our course was in the 2nd half mile. It wasn't steep enough to require slowing down, but steep enough to be a really bad place to trip and hit the pavement.
