what make and model? considering some new shoes...

Brooks Ravenna. Very lightweight (for an everyday trainer) so probably useless on proper off-road but they've been a lot of fun where grip isn't a factor. They're antipronation though - if i remember correctly the neutral equivalent is called 'Launch'.
