Flags, cemetery, Memorial Day, Great Grandad in France. I fear it is something similar to my grandfather (my mom's dad), killed in the last month of WW1. Visiting the American cemetery near Verdun was unbelievably sad. I hope I am mistaken. If not, my condolences. Today is a good day to remember.

He actually made it through but as with so many, was never quite the same. His health wasn’t great and he died before I was born, so I never met him.

We went to visit where he served when I was a teenager but as with many things I did as a teenager, I didn’t take it in. I’m looking forward to spending real time with my Dad again and learning a bit more about his side of the family.
