I wanted to make sure everyone noticed that Empire Orienteers are holding a COVID friendly event weekend of May 15-17 near Albany. So get yourselves registered and get back out in the woods (safely).

Oh and shout out to Niels - I ran the winter course at Hurd Park State Park today and it was a blast - fabulous weather - fun use of the permanent markers. Maps available upon request.

Can you please get us a link to maps for Hurd park?

Angelica.
At Hurd SP, the control features are designated by permanent control markers, 6” x 6”, mounted about 5’ high on trees close to the features with the markers facing the feature. Sent you an email

As long as you don’t touch the posts in the forest :-)

Is there information anywhere about the course style and lengths? Nothing that I can find on the EMPO website or on the ski-o website where one registers. Only just now noticed that this AttackPoint listing says "sprint format," but if that could be more fully explained (or if there could be a pointer to where it's already explained), that would be great.

Asking for a friend from NY. ;-)

Until recently my in-laws lived adjacent to this park, so I've been there a few times. I doubt he's exaggerating the mud component. You'll also want the usual tick precautions.

I updated the event description to answer the comments in the thread above. Let me know if you'd rather have me mail you your course map.
