Discussion: 5 Orienteering Courses - Queens NYC

Orienteering Unlimited (Ed Hicks) has been working with the NYC Park Department to create an Orienteering Map and a Permanent course for a section of Alley Pond in Queens NY. The maps by Stefan Slutsky were completed in 2019.
A permanent with approximately 55 controls is being designed. The plan was to install the permanent markers in the Spring of 2020. Due to the COVID -19 virus the MARKERS HAVE NOT BEEN INSTALLED.
Though markers have not been installed you can verify you visited the control(s) by using Livelox. Details about Livelox are on the OU website.
NOTE THAT AT THIS TIME NONE OF THE CONTROLS HAVE BEEN VETTED. Feedback about the control locations would be appreciated as we will use some of the control for a future Permanent Course.
Courses are set up as 3 separate EVENTS on Livelox
1. The course(s) Beginner 1 - Beginner 2 – Advanced Beginner – Orange
2. Course of All 55 Controls - Using the All Control Course you can design your own course of any combination of controls.
3. Cool Places in Alley Pond – Will be posted soon.
Maps and Control Descriptions - You must use the paper maps to navigate the course which can be printed by opening the PDF on the OU website. The map does not display in Livelox until you have completed and replay the course.
