I'm drawing a blank. I'm sure I have done it before but now I can't figure it out.
I'm putting on a score orienteering event in a few weeks and I want to add the point value for each control to the last column of the symbolic clue sheet.
Please do not say 'use purple pen' or 'use CONDES' I'm using OCAD 2019. How do I add the numbers 10, 15, 20, 30 as choices to column H in OCAD control descriptions?
First helpful answer gets one free entry to the Suncoast Orienteering event of your choice in 2020. (Transportation not included)

I don't have a computer handy right now, but I think maybe you can create new control description symbols? So you'd create a numerical one that goes in the last column, or failing that, a few where you hand-draw the numbers for the values you need.

Yeah you can do as JJ says: for example right click on the manned control symbol (which is already defined as column H - which is what you want), click edit then delete the man and draw the number, repeat for other numbers. The trouble is OCAD doesn't handle text inside the symbol editor so either you hand draw the numbers (which wont look great) or you have to type the numbers in the main course setting file somewhere, convert them to graphics then copy and paste them into the symbol editor. Dont forget to then delete the numbers in the main course setting file.

OR

just leave the last column blank then use a text symbol to overwrite the numbers - but it will be hard to align them because the descriptions only become visible in Preview mode where you cannot edit or move things about. Will be some trial and error to get them in the right place..

OR

(probably easiest) when you have finished everything else and are sure it is all correct, export the course map and add the numbers to the descriptions on the exported map.

OR

use Condes (actually I am not sure how you would do it in Condes either)

I don't know how to do this in OCAD (I use Condes), but I'm curious why you're using column H for this. Usually the point value for score-O controls goes in column A. Is it possible that OCAD has a way to put the score in column A and just not in column H?

From IOF Control Description specs:
Column A - Control number
Numbering of controls is in the sequence they are to be visited, unless the description is for a Score competition in which case this column is usually either left blank or indicates the control value.

Or the other way I've seen it done is to have the control codes indicate the value (typically ignoring the second digit). That way the values appear in column B). But these days people seem to want the codes to match the SI box numbers, and the numbers you want might not be in your batch of SI boxes. (Of course, there's no real reason why the SI numbers need to be used as codes.)

I'm pretty sure you can show the points in any of columns A, B or H.

Surely OCAD and Condes have the capability to choose a normal course or a score course, and if the latter then you would be prompted to choose the column you want the points in, which is what happens in Purple Pen.

Surely you can't be serious!
