The woods are open and fast, and HVO is planning a fun event.

Course details:
Brown 3.9km 140m climb 11 controls, 7,500 scale
Green 5.6km 190m climb 14 controls, 10,000 scale
Blue/Red 7.8km 300m climb, 22 controls, 10,000 scale
Orange, Yellow and White recreational courses

Brown, Green, Red/Blue courses are organized as Chase Start races with individual start times based on the results from WCOC’s NRE event at Ansonia. Competitors who do not have a result from the WCOC event can participate in the mass start taking place 5 minutes after the first start on each course.

The Brown course chase will start at 10.00am, Green course at 10.15am, and Blue/Red at 10.30am.

White, Yellow, and Orange start any time from 10:00am to Noon. Advanced course runners who are not joining the chase start have a 10.40am to Noon start window.

Map and Course Notes.
The map is excellent and vegetation symbols can be trusted for navigation. Minor trails can be difficult to distinguish due to the leaves on the ground. Given the great visibility, flags are carefully placed so the control description may come in handy.
Both Green and Blue/Red courses have a diamond forking. In this section, all runners on a course will have the same legs, but in different sequences, so make sure you follow the control sequence described on your own map.

Blue and Red runners share the same course in order to make the chase a little more competitive. The Red course winner from the WCOC NRE starts first and Blue course winner starts 3 min after the Red leader.

Mass start is 5 minutes after first start? So, early in the chase window?

All runners on a course will start within the 5 min start window. In essence a mix of a traditional chase start and a mass start. The hypothesis is that at a local race, the competition may not be deep enough to create an optimal chase start, so we are testing if we can mitigate that by narrowing the start window.

The woods are open and fast right now, so a good time will be had regardless.

OK, good, that sounds like a fine plan.

Results and splits are now posted (thank you Peter). Note that Red A and B and Green A and B total time are totally comparable as the only difference is the way they went around the diamond controls. Also note that Red A splits do not include 3 of the diamond controls (my error in changing from one course concept to A@B concept in computer) however total time is comparable with Red B as are all splits except diamond (controls 15-20).
