Was chatting with someone from Italy, and found out that every year, he sees a sports medicine physician to do a round of tests (EKG etc etc ... ) to get a medical certificate, necessary to participate in the MA, WA, MB, WB, elite courses. It costs him about 70 Euro.

Browsing around, found that this international meet in Italy has this form for non-Italian participants.

What other countries require such documentation?

In France you need a medical certificate to participate in most races (not just orienteering). If you check out the Park Run results in France, although sorted by time, there is no "Place" column - apparently if they added a "Placing", it becomes a race and requires everyone to have a Med Certification.

This requirement has been dropped in Italy for at least the last two years. It was specifically mentioned in the notes for the Dolomites meet last summer as no longer needed.

In the past I just got the form signed by my PCP, who gives me an annual exam anyway and signs the form with no extra charge.

Same procedure as Charlie for the meet last summer in France.

I had to get a medical cert for a race in Paris this spring. They held onto it during the event, but never looked at it in great detail.
