I'm off to Norway on Monday to cheer for the US Team at WOC2019. I wonder if individually or as a team they have announced goals for themselves.

2019 US National Team member profiles are on the OUSA website, here. While they don't address goals for WOC the do discuss training focus.

These athletes are headed to WOC.

Go Team USA!

@dcady: Will I see you on the open mapping clinics during WOC? On Tue 15th Kristen Treekrem, the WOC mapper, will take us on a visit to the terrain just after the Middle Q, then on the 15th we'll have indoor presentations.

Kristen has made all Norwegian WOC maps except the 1978 one which were surveyed/drawn while he was still a junior, he is also a long-time member of the Norwegian MC.

PS. Those clinics are timed to make it possible to attend while also run the public races and watch all WOC events. :-)

@Terje Mathisen: I did not know about these clinics but Yes, I would like to attend. Where do I sign up?

[edit] Oops. Nevermind. I found the info on IOF. See you there

It's a little tough to have goals as this is the first time of 'new' forest WOC and so the places will mean different things than previous years (different number of athletes in the Long Final, and new and different qualification rules for the Middle).

My personal goal is to be top-45 in the Long Final (so equivalent to making the Long Final back when there were qualifications for it). Past results would suggest I shoot much higher, but I've had a rough season of preparation for WOC with a major injury mid-spring and so think this is the right goal for me!

For the women's relay, I'm hoping we can improve on last year's 21st place. (For context, here some past women's relay placings: 2018 - 21st, 2017 - 25th, 2016 - 22nd, 2015 - 20th, 2014 - 17th, 2013 - 19th.)

Also, if people are on slow internet, here's the synopsis of who is running what for team USA:

Middle Qualification, Tues, Aug 13 (Final on Aug 16): Anton, Greg, Eric, Jordan ~ Syd, Åsne, Alison
Long, Wed, Aug 14: Morten, Jordan ~ Ali, Sydney
Forest Relay, Sat, Aug 17: Anton, Greg, Morten ~ Ali, Åsne, Alison

(Ali = me, Alison = Alison Campbell)
