Discussion: US WOC Team announced

in: Orienteering; General

May 5, 2019 9:20 PM #
On behalf of the Review Panel, I'm happy to announce the athletes who will represent the US at the 2019 World Orienteering Championships.
Greg Ahlswede (DVOA)
Eric Bone (COC)
Morten Jorgensen
Jordan Laughlin (HOC)
Anton Salmenkyla (CSU)
Alison Campbell (DVOA)
Ali Crocker (CROC)
Syd Fisher (WPOC)
Aasne Skram Tromberg

The race assignments are as follows:
Middle Qual Men: Anton, Greg, Eric, Jordan; Morten is reserve
Middle Qual Women: Syd, Aasne, Alison; Ali is reserve
Long Men: Morten, Jordan; Greg is reserve
Long Women: Ali, Syd; Aasne is reserve
Relay Men: Anton, Greg, Morten; reserve Eric/Jordan*
Relay Women: Ali, Aasne, Alison*; Syd is reserve

In selecting the best athletes for each race, the Review Panel considered automatic qualifications, strengths, and maximum number of races each individual could race competitively. For the remaining positions after automatic selections, the RP considered whether petitioner or injured athlete's body of performance indicated higher potential than another athlete's documented team trials performance prior to naming an athlete based on performance. We chose not to name any overall team alternates.

Asterisks indicate that we leave the selection of the men's relay reserve (if needed) and the final call on Alison's injury recovery for the WOC relay to the chair of the ESC, to be made during WOC as necessary. We wish all our athletes strong, healthy training in the upcoming months.
Go Team USA!

Review Panel: Peggy Dickison, Tori Campbell, Will Hawkins, Glen Tryson
