Discussion: DQ?

your route from 28 to 29 shows you going through an out-of-bounds area. I think you should be given a one hour time penalty.
It's not out-of-bounds! It's the same color as the parking area at #29. And the "uncrossable fence" was very crossable where we crossed it, it was just about lying flat.
A one-hour penalty? I believe the proper remedial action would have been for you to run a little faster. :-)
I saw that X as a no entry point. run faster? not an option. swim maybe. I worked hard during the week with the specific goal of running the marathon with zero energy in my legs. just another long training run for me. you on the other hand had your taper all figured out and your result shows. nice work!
The purple line also definitely goes around the left side of the parking lot, and I think the intent was for it to be out of bounds, although purple slashes would have made the point much more clearly.
A little later, when heading out of Fatlands onto Mill Grove, we encountered a big field with power lines in it that was just shown as yellow on the map, but that was prominently posted "No Trespassing". Wasn't sure what the right course of action was there.
I must have missed all of this detail. I was using the Fatlands map for 28 to 29 and all I could see was a purple line. I saw someone ahead of me going thru the parking and I did not hesitate to do so as well.
That route from 28-29 is definately out of bounds. Cool, top 10 :-). The route thru the yellow field with the power lines is ok, the postings were for the houses to the left and their yards (I'm sure everyone noticed the subtle change in ground vegatation where their yards ended and the field began ...
(FWIW, I parked in that abandoned factory when I hung 28 and could not find a particularily easy place to cross that fence).
Hey, better than that, Randy, top 8, because Hilly and James Rayburn (maybe 75 meters ahead of us) went the same way.
Of course, that would be under the assumption that your and Joe's position wasn't totally bogus.
Four different kinds of areas were out of bounds -- Purple stripe overprinting, black vertical lines, olive green (and these three were all specifically named on the map), and wide streams. The area north of 28 is none of those, not even close.
I suppose the other case that could be made was that we crossed an uncrossable fence (aka high fence) illegally, but that's only illegal in sprints.
Where we crossed the fence it was severely tilted to the east. Hillary just hopped across, and even this old man could get across without much ado.
My only regret was that I just came up short of taking Wyatt and Hillary. Then I could have claimed some really fine scalps. :-)
To be honest, I only knew it was OOB because I studied the map and the area the day before when I was looking for a way to get in there efficiently. I also know that factory is private property. I guess local knowledge can work both ways ...
