Well, that's a bummer! But I hope you go back and write up your trip details any way, with best guesses. It will be nice for you, in the future, to recall where you went. And I selfishly want to hear your stories and see your pictures! (You can steal some of my tracks if you want :)

Ouch!

Let me know if I can assist in 'fiddling about' and trying to find them.

You never know! I’ll look in the files, and then use some disk recovery tools to explore. Fingers crossed. Good idea with the handoff!

I was done in South America for the last two weeks of December - first a cruise through Tiera del Fuego and then hiking in Torres del Paine. I had tracks for a hike we did on Cape Horn which I thought was really cool but those and the others up until the second day in Torres del Paine were all lost.

I do keep meaning to go back and put up pictures but I just haven't made the time yet.

Just looked at your log and it seems we were in about the same places! We were on Stella Australis - the sister ship of the Ventus Australis. We stayed at the Explora Hotel in Torres del Paine right on Pehoe Lake.

I thought your description sounded very familiar :-). J-J's got some pictures up on his log if you haven't seen it yet. I'll add some to mine when I have a chance. You did much more serious hiking in Torres del Paine and we bookended the trip with Buenos Aires and Santiago. Luckily you did the trip when you did, The Stella Australis is currently out of commission with needed repairs.

Maybe you can use some of my tracks from my time on the boat for your log!
