The labs aren't Stanford are similar - they definitely smell like smoke. We got an email yesterday saying that the air in the labs comes from outside and is filtered, but obviously not perfectly due to the strong smell of smoke. Hopefully the smoke goes away soon!

Yeah. We got an email that said, "As you are all aware, the local air quality has become quite unhealthy. Unfortunately, laboratory air is all exhausted out and not recirculated in order to satisfy the required amount of air changes per hour so outside air intake is at 100%."

I'm pretty sure we have filters on the air leaving the lab but not for air coming into the lab. I've been wearing an N95 mask in the lab, which is exceedingly uncomfortable, but does help a bit with breathing. We're still very clearly in the "unhealthy" range of PM2.5 particles in the East Bay. The forecast claims we should be dropping down into the "unhealthy for sensitive groups" range, but that doesn't seem to be happening...
