This year's Sprint San Francisco will have the same format as last year, but with different venues, including two venues never before used for orienteering (with brand new maps, of course). Once again, the two races on the final day (Sunday, Dec 9 at St. Mary's College in Moraga) will be National Ranking Events. The new venues are St. Mary's College and Hidden Lakes Park.
The number of entries is limited, so don't delay. You can register via OUSA's EventRegister
here. There is no day-of-meet registration; deadline for entering is Monday, Dec 3, 11:59pm.
The schedule:
Fri, Dec 7: Night-O Sprint Relay, Diablo Valley College, Pleasant Hill
Sat, Dec 8: Three-Round Knockout Sprint Tournament, Hidden Lakes (Martinez) and Paso Nogal (Pleasant Hill)
Sun, Dec 9: National Ranking Events: Sprint Qualifier and Final, St. Mary's College, Moraga
For all three days, everyone will be competing on the same courses. In particular, there are no Beginner (White), Novice (Yellow) or Intermediate (Orange) courses. Nevertheless, given the nature of the venues and the courses, some people without a great deal of orienteering experience may wish to give it a try. That was the case the last two years, and those who did go out appeared to enjoy themselves.
