Where were these hedges? Near the finish? I am not sure where the problem areas were that have lead to such strong comments from the organising team about cheating.

Yes, the ones near the finish.
You probably know by now, but it seems to have been a gate was open at the top of the north map allowing direct access into the courtyard (#9 on course 1N) - The leg being voided is annoying as I'd spotted it on the blank map and planned the route - no idea if the gate was open when I ran past it.
