Everything you could ever want to know about SART 2018 is now posted here.

Thanks to everyone who participated and volunteered! Congrats to all of the age group winners, especially to Grand Champion Will Enger, who finally brought the SART championship home and away from the Commonwealth!

(I apologize for the delay in getting the final bracket posted. We had to completely reformat it this year, and it took me a while to update the digital version.)

As you may have heard, there may or may not be a SART in 2019 or 2020. After four years of directing, mapping, and designing, I'm stepping away until at least 2021, at which point it'll likely be held every other year, in odd-numbered years. That said, CascadeOC is interested in bridging a potential three-year gap with another tournament, but there aren't any firm plans yet.

Thanks for the art of SART, it was a great time! The Cascade teamwork to get it all done well and on time is impressive.

Wonderful weekend as always Patrick. Big thanks to you and your team for putting this on for four years! I'll be patiently waiting for the next one.

Patrick,

As someone who has never been to SART but has repeatedly heard good things its unfortunate that you are stepping away from organizing for a few years. Unfortunate, but wise. I'm glad to see you prioritizing and not letting yourself get burnt out (not that I actually know your reasoning).

As an aside - I'm drooling over how pretty your maps look. I'm always impressed with your drafting!

Looks like SART 2019 is going to happen, as some other Cascaders have stepped up and will be putting it on without me (double yay!).

It'll be September 14-15, which is a week later than the usual, but it avoids the regional conflicts of US Nationals and Western Canadians from the week before. The Saturday races will likely be at previous SART venues: Gas Works Park, Green Lake Park, Woodland Park, and Seattle Pacific University. The Sunday races will probably be at Magnuson Park in northeast Seattle (there's an existing non-ISSOM map here).

The SART website hasn't been updated yet (nor has an AP event been created), but I've given the keys over to Eric Jones, who will be directing this year.

Thanks for the compliment on the drafting! Honestly, I'm self-aware enough to realize that I'm too much of a perfectionist when it comes to my drafting, and you're correct in assuming that it was burning me out . I'm a full-time stay-at-home dad now with an additional part-time job, and I realized last summer that I had this constantly nagging background stress of "I gotta work on SART, I gotta work on SART." (And 2018 was supposed to be the "easy" year of just converting an existing map, but then my perfectionism kicked in and I ended up completely redrafting most of it, haha.)

Also yay! On schedule, so I don't do something silly like make a class field trip the same weekend like last year... And glad you are protecting yourself from burnout PS, wise.
