Go on. Do it. It will become a media love story. Or hate story.

Don't think I'm game myself, but I've dropped the hint to someone who might.

Juffy:
Wouldn't you have to control for the fact that Fred Nile is an absolute tit, and any God who existed might be actively thwarting his prayers to try and give him the hint?

TheInvisibleLog:
No, you would ignore that and just present the data, which I am guessing would speak for itself.

Juffy:
Depends if the question is "Does prayer lead to rain?" or "Is Fred Nile an absolute tit?", I guess.

TheInvisibleLog:
Look, the first is a trivial question worth answering. The second is an utterly trivial question unworthy of any effort.

But we need to see the *data*, Neil. This is Blair's log, after all - if there's no data then we're no better than...er...Fred Nile. o_O

TheInvisibleLog:
Maybe the second question will be answered by data for the first...

Finally rendered speechless?

Haha. I was just thinking of another pertinent question - Is there any correlation between the 'moral decline' of a society and its susceptibility to natural disaster?

Fred Nile has done one useful thing in his political/religious career - putting up a private member's bill in the NSW Parliament in the 1990s to restrict tobacco advertising. (An unsuccessful attempt by the industry to enlist the support of gay groups to oppose the measure led to one of the more memorable headlines I've seen, "Gays Back Nile Anti-Fag Bill").
