Lets say that your runner become a World champion. What your federation could really do to promote result and runner?

I just wonder about the status of elite orienteering vs. all other Sports at national level as here (in Slovenia) seems that orienteering is not on priority list of sports and world champion gold medal would not get any big support anyway.

Just short comparison overview:

Olympic sports vs. Non Olympic sports - world champion in athletics/orienteering?
National Olympic committee support for elite class in case of international result (money) - 1:24
Medal recognition (money) - 1:24
Public factor of interest (money) - 1:0,1
Government support for trainers - not possible
.......etc.
It is more the system than results which decide which sports will get funds.

So naturally you start looking how orienteering is treated in other countries?

Super:
I don't know what, if anything, is done to support a world champion orienteer here in Canada. Probably very little, especially if compared to other sports like hockey or beer drinking. However I do know that if the world champion wants to remain world champion he/she had best get back to training. Right Sudden?
