Our club is looking for a mapper, to do work some time within the next twelve months. We have a lot of maps which need updating because a cyclone (big storm) went through our city in March this year. This has changed a lot of tracks, vegetation, clear areas etc both on bush maps and urban maps. In addition, we would like to extend some existing maps to make them bigger. We can offer about 3 months of full time mapping work. Interstate and international mappers are encouraged to apply.

The mapping work can be split into smaller time periods and maybe you can fit it in around work in other states. In addition to this mapping work we can also fund some coaching activities.

Mappers can stay with local orienteering families and access to a car can be arranged. You do not need to buy one for your time in Darwin.

About Darwin:
In Darwin it is warm all year. The day time temperature is always near or above 30 degrees Celsius. The best time of year to visit is between May and September, because it is dry season and not humid.

Darwin is famous for having a laid back feel, with an outdoors culture. There are many markets, festivals and community events. Many international tourists come to visit the outback, to learn about indigenous culture, and to visit nearby national parks which have spectacular waterfalls.

There is one orienteering club in Darwin. The club holds one or two orienteering events each month. These events attract around 100 people, and there are always many new people. The club always needs help with coaching and teaching orienteering, both to the public at weekend events and in schools during the week.
