Thanks for the words of encouragement.

I had a great run in the Middle Quali. Except for missing about 0:30 at control 1 (I veered up the hill-side too high and had to come back down on it), I ran very well. I was very focused and tried really hard to avoid mistakes. The warm-up map was very technical and injected some fear into my pre-race mindset (much like at team trials). The race ended up being a bit easier (only a couple of controls in the very detailed rock/contour areas). Needless to say I was super happy to make the final (especially after being close in the long). It was disappointing though to see James and Erin come so close, but miss out.

The Middle Final was a much different ball-game. As races go, it was not a great one for me. I was distracted by the crowds, distracted by Novikov and Muukkonen flying by mid-race, tired from the morning's race, hotter than hell, and anihilated by the climb (370 m in 5km!). But, as an experience, it was absolutely awesome! It was such a rush to start directly in front of all the screaming crowds. Then, coming through the spectator control and finishing up the chute. It's the first time I qualified for a WOC final and it was a blast.

It was also incredible to me to watch the final men (and women) finishing the race. Gueorgiou's time was amazing, I simply can't imagine covering that course so fast.

Reg Gueorgiou's race. Valstad wrote on his web site that the race the Frenchmen did could be one of the best ever.
