OCAD MAP MAKING TRAINING - Full Day Session

Muscoot Farm - Katonah, New York
Tuesday, May 29, 2018
(Tuesday after Westchester County 2018 Challenge events)

This will be a full day comprehensive, hands-on training session using the Ocad map making software.
Program will be held at Muscoot Farm in Katonah, New York. The facility has a classroom with Wi-Fi so we can set up computers and access data via Wi-Fi.

Program is ideal for all levels of users -beginners through experienced users

You do not have to be an Ocad owner or even have a computer with you to participate in the session. We will have some loaner computers with Ocad installed.

Program will be presented by Ed Hicks of Orienteering Unlimited who is Ocad’s North American support and sales person since the early 1990s when the software was first initiated.

This will also be an ideal opportunity to learn the software and experience field work techniques (including using a tablet computer with GPS).

The link below will take you to the Orienteering Unlimited website where there are more details and a registration form.

Ed, I enjoyed your OCAD training day last year, and I plan to attend it again this year. It's a great program, and I find that I really benefit from your 20 years of experience with the software.

You can put on an OOM webinar, Jim. Ed is not likely to.

Hi Ed,
Good to see you are doing another mapping seminar. Wish I could be there because even though I thought I knew it all when I attended the seminar a year ago in Nova Scotia I really had my eyes opened to new possibilities with OCAD 12 Not only that but I was able to sharpen skills I thought I had by following along as you instructed the new mappers.
And you knoiw what? Even though you are an OCAD man and are pushing the latest versions mapping is mapping and most of the latest OCAD skills you were highlighting are 100% (or close to it) transferable to earlier versions of OCAD and to Open Orienteering Mapper, etc.
But I'm glad I have OCAD 12. The new map wizard which you showed us, the DEM import wizard and the improved graphics and auto-generated legends are worth the price of admission right there.
Best wishes to those attending your seminar.

Ed, At the map training will you be touching on the new OCAD 2018 program?

Gord,
The mapping workshop will cover Ocad 2018 along with all previous versions of Ocad.

The title is a little deceptive since the program will cover much more than Ocad. There will be many topics the will apply to all mapping programs such as OOM and Kartapullautin.

It has been suggested that we video tape the program and make it available to the general mapping community. That would be nice except that this a hands-on, interactive program unlike a typical Webinar. Throughout the program as concepts are presented participants will have an opportunity to practice the concept/skill on their own computer.
