I am not sure if Swampfox day's shadow of Swampfox, seen by Swampfox, is an exact science, but for now, it is much warmer in Laramie than in New York City. But snow in Laramie lasts longer than here, for some strange reason.
Maybe I was wrong. As you say, the science isn't exact when it comes to these sorts of matters. Maybe it was only the shadow of a passing crow.
That said, there is little doubt in my mind that the weather continues to get weirder and weirder, and your example provides one more citation of the fact.
