A week ago, I was passing through Nederland, and encountered a traffic jam due to Frozen Dead Guy Days, a winter festival that I think Tom Plant (son of Jim and Mil) was involved with the founding of. I looked it up online, and one thing they do is to have a contest where you immerse your hands in ice water for a minute, then try to change a bicycle tire.

That's a good one. If they made it 5 minutes instead, it would be a great one.

Kind of like standing in icy water to see who gets a candy bar.

The winner gets a water bottle and a pair of socks. (I wonder if we should ever tell Jim about the timing irregularities.)

What I remember best is that I was certainly the loser.

For the final (Snickers) round, I thought maybe there were only two contestants. In the preliminaries, I thought I might have cracked before you did.

Pretty sure no one cracked before I did.

If I had it all to do over again, I would stay on shore.

Well, I did just the right amount. Somewhere around 4 seconds, I think.
