Hope it's better tomorrow!
Hope it's not as bad as you thought at first. Get well soon!
Oh no! Hope it’s better soon.
Thanks everyone. Ankle is not too bad, it should be fine in a couple of days. Only a little puffiness this morning and not much in the way of pretty colors. My knee is very tender so here's hoping that also is back to normal in a few days.
Sending healing wishes your way!
Oh no, Sand. So sorry to hear that. Hope you're feeling better today.
Thanks guys. Knee still a little tender but I'm hoping another day or two will take care of it.
It better behave. I'm just about to put down a deposit on a trip to hike to Mt. Everest Base Camp in October. Yikes!!
That sounds like a trip you'd really enjoy! I know you'll work hard to get in shape.
Whaaaaaat?? Mt Everest- that’s awesome.
I want to hear more about that!
Yeah - it's another MIT alumni travel trip. I had looked at it seriously but it's in October and when I was looking I was pretty sure I was going to work another year. But I've since decided that I can retire this summer and someone from a previous trip encouraged me to reconsider it and there was one spot left so I put it on hold and plan to put the deposit down on Monday.
The trip is a two week hiking trip to the base camp at Everest staying in tea houses along the way and just carrying a day pack. It's a long slow hike to acclimatize and I chatted with the guide for a while yesterday to gauge whether I thought I could do it and I decided to go for it.
So, not so much running and lots more longer hiking in my future. I will be considerably poorer at the end of this year what with going to NAOC in August, this in October and then Patagonia in December but I figure if I wait, it may be too late. But I may have blown my travel budget for a while!
Wow, congrats on retirement! A loss for SJU, I'm sure.
Glad to hear your knee and ankle are doing a bit better today.
Congrats on retiring! And keep traveling as long as your body allows because there will come a time when it says "no more." Go for it!
So cool that you can retire this year and take all these trips. And good for you for going to Base camp: not something I would ever consider. You're much stronger than me!
Ditto what Mary said! How wonderful for you. I'm really envious and will live vicariously through your adventures.
Yeah, I'm pretty excited about it all!
That's awesome news...very inspiring!
So cool Sandy!! I hope the ankle behaves, and you are able to stay on track for your amazing adventures.
