I feel sorry for the beginners who started in front of me who "benefited" from me translating the control descriptions for them...

The cave was definitely a bit left field.

I once had a similar confusion, I think at an urban race in Lincoln.
The control was on a solid black 'not to be crossed' wall. It was actually a high retaining wall which you wouldn't want to cross. It was described as inside SW corner (correctly if I remember right) but, because it was a retaining wall, I assumed it meant foot (i.e. low side of the wall). Actually it was inside a corner on the high side. Doh!
