It is.

...and it looks stunning at this time of year.

Your mappers made a great map Nick!

Scandi-style rock mapping - really consistent - nice and clean - lots of sensible choices.

A couple snaps from today...

Maybe the Micro-O terrain??

Map from today...

Micro had 4 different courses of 5 controls, with a common first and last. 8 total controls in the box.

Awesome turnout! Thanks everyone for coming. Registration almost tripled in 36 hours. So great.

Extra special thank you to DD11 and Alicia, DD11's parents, and The Tabays - you all know why... It's truly not a traditional Gators event without an epic mad scramble right up to the end - done so discretely this time though.

Ground thawed just enough to prevent a roller derby through the Micro O.

Really happy how the course held up. The theme was 'route choice'.

As a course setter, it was a dream to watch everyone equally disperse in all directions to begin the race. Success!!

As I've mentioned previously, thanks again to TOC and OOA for their support leading up to the race - race wouldn't have happened without it.

Thanks so much to you, DD11 and Harps for a super fun O Cup race. It's such a pretty area and the format was interesting. I loved the Micro-O! And the chili. :)

Here's some measurements on the routechoice from 3 to 4:

Keen eyed viewers will note the older version of the map - looks like Mark has put a lot of work into updating the map for this event! The Green routechoice no longer looks as viable on the updated map.

Thanks everyone! ...and thanks David for posting this. (I believe the posted distances are at 1:7500 though.)

Yep, with the old map I think the green route looked like more of a possibility, but ultimately I think the red route was best. Easier navigation - just put your head down and give'r. The indistinct trail along the south shoreline was very runnable (and noticeable) after the melt. (Although #4 was originally higher up at the mouth of the canyon, which made the east route more of a cherry.)

At first I was thinking to restrict 'dogboning' until after that leg - but I'm glad I didn't in the end. It opened up a tonne more route choice possibilities.

And yes, lots of mapping work. I wanted to make it a proper seasonal depiction - then all hell broke loose after a spell of weather in the teens, with a dearth of rain.

Map needs another pass - especially the micro in a couple spots. Those potholes are definitely not to scale - fun looking though!! Oh ya, and a bloody ISOM2017 conversion - currently an OCUP2017 map, (anything goes).

Great spot - beautiful little Eden kind of popping out of nowhere in the region.
