First thing in the morning the temperature is always lower in the valleys!
It felt like it was 15 degrees
Long Gully was lovely last night, Zara even jumped in the dam :)
So she couldn't wait to get home and jump in her own pool!
Today's conditions were especially favourable for big valley-hill differences (dry air, not much wind). Certainly quite plausible for valley floors to be 10 degrees or more cooler than more exposed sites under the right conditions - I've seen differences of up to 15 degrees at some NSW locations.
In fact there are a few nice examples today in NSW and eastern Victoria - in east Gippsland, Omeo (in a valley) and Combienbar (on a hill) are at around the same altitude, but Combienbar's minimum today was 26.6 and Omeo's 13.3. (The Omeo site is by no means ideally positioned to capture the maximum valley cooling, so it was probably sub-10 in places on the valley floor). Also 11-degree differences between the NSW pairs of Cabramurra/Perisher, and Moss Vale/High Range.
