Have you looked at the inov8 trail gaiters? I haven't yet but they look interesting.

I'll be curious to hear your thoughts on them. I had a pair many years ago. I'll reserve comment until you have a chance to form your own opinion first.

I know that sweat accumulates inside profusely, but as long as it is warm, I do not care :)

My experience of neoprene socks in the snow is that they were very cold. Possibly because of more sweat...?

Bubo, what if I wear another pair of socks inside neoprene? Plus my neoprene socks are quite thick, ~ 3 mm, vs 1 mm sold in Sweden.
Leif, DVOA is coming to Jukola this year and we are going to run hard :), hope to see you soon :)

I think I´ve occasionally used (thin) socks outside the neoprene. It´s all a matter of which size shoes you use. My experience is a few years old so I don´t remember the particular details from my snow adventures (night O).
The neoprene socks have worked better for me to keep my feet dry rather than warm - mostly in early spring when the woods are still wet.
Jukola may be subject to a visit, but I´ll probably be on crutches (or not) by then if I get my knee surgery this spring as planned - so definitely no running.
