Well it should be required reading for those whose work involves maps. Makes me wonder how long our sport can exist with a paper map at a fixed scale.
That's on an orienteering level, on a society level its somewhat scary the extent of what Google knows about our environs. Along with GPS providers who require you to get at the data thru their website, no device-to-computer link being available...

This is why I hate the fact that Tesla is using (at least here in Scandinavia) Google maps for the 17" screen but some other vendor for the routing, and that one is based on significantly less updated maps.

Oliver O’Brien's “Street-O” map generator is probably a good preview of what orienteering maps of the future will be. Just browse to the area of interest, select the map style of your choice, and start designing your courses.
