At first I thought that said Lans Taylor, and was thinking you had somehow run into him out there.

On the Canadian ski team, paralyzed in an accident. Took up wheelchair paragliding.

Wow. Not sure if you ever crossed paths with Lans or if he disappeared before your time. He grew up in NEOC, won just about every junior age group US Champs at least once, was on the ski-O team briefly, after college moved to BAOC area and I think quietly disappeared. His mom was one of the principal movers and shakers of WOC93. Pretty sure he had a photographic memory, as he could regularly beat people who were faster than him by spending less time slowing down to look at the map.

At one point I heard he was in Texas; I think this was after attending college in the Albany area (and running on a few EMPO maps). Not sure where he may be now.

Lans went to Skidmore and now lives in SLC (having moved from Houston) as do his parents, Linda & Tom Taylor. They were an old NEOC family and Linda indeed was a prime mover of WOC '93.
