Thanks for posting the map. I can see that a fair # of points could be difficult tho maybe less so with leaves fallen. Seems pretty much a CW or CWW course setter's map with S/F at the school parking - every time over quite a few years.
I can remember-see the walls on the way to 1, the climb after the drainage on the way to 2, up the hill wondering where a # 3 might be, potential for big confusion at 4, the featureless terrain on the way to 7 & 10, paralleling the wall on the way to 11 - replay of legs from other years.
It must have been 20 yrs ago (is the map that old?), when a HS teen was overheard (think it was Suzanne F), exclaiming "look at that old man run". I would have been early 50s. Didn't care for the term but, from his perspective, it was quite true.
When I started out, it seemed that Jim Plant was about 50, and it seemed pretty strange to see a guy as old as that out stumbling around the woods. I can only imagine what the younger Charlie might have thought of old geezers like us!
You should have seen Lyn W. sprinting by me on the 175m run-in to finish on the course yesterday at Mt Penn. I was certainly having the same kind of thoughts.
Lyn has been sprinting by a lot of people for quite some time now. A remarkably fine athlete.
