Discussion: Metro Rogaine

Anyone interested in doing the metro Rogaine in November as i i think you can only do it in a team according to the website? ?

Yeah it's a rogaine so no heroic individual efforts allowed in case you get injured or lost because in an urban location no-one will ever find you.

This isn't me volunteering incidentally. Much as I'd like to team up I've only just got back to running after my knee breakage and don't think I'm up for four hours of it just yet.

Yes i did hear about your misfortune with a tree i think it was? Sounded like some nasty injuries you sustained!

Don't think I'm up for 4 hours myself running around the streets and parks hence doing the Rogaine solo would be ideal

I guess what I hit could have been called a tree at some stage of its life.

If you want to rein it in at three hours I'd be willing. I want to get out to the Carine Metro event by 5pm to do that (on the bike) but of course neither association has yet managed to avoid conflicting the other's event, other than last year where Bryce ran the two following each other from the same venue and then no-one managed to do both! If there'd been a bike category last year I'd have done it.

I just remember Shane describing some of your injuries and briefly how it happened and it didn't sound good. A process making your way back I'm sure..

Yes ok then around 3 hours sounds good on the event if you want to do it. . Shame both events do clash on the same day

It's only been happening for nine years now. Neither organisation will back down. Orienteering has been running summer series events on Saturday afternoons forever now but rogaining claims to have their calendar out a year ahead of orienteering (despite not ever having a venue until about a month out). Rogaining started doing it once a year since 2009 and it became tradition once they did the first one at that time and changing the day or the time even by an hour is inconceivable. People will get confused if something changes.

We'd probably still make top 3 in three hours. Last year the score for 4th place was <70% of our winning score (and we copped a couple of penalties for incorrect circle placements meaning we couldn't find the answer). Tash and I finished in 2nd at the 2012 event (30 points off the winners) and walked the whole thing.

Yes well you wouldn't think it would be that hard to put it on a Sunday or find an alternative date. Something always clashes with something else though.
We can just go out see how we go. See how your knees and so hold up as well.

Knee should be fine unless we have to jump off a cliff (or the DNA tower). It's the quad that gets sore. I need to start doing some distances again anyway. Simon and I covered 28km last year in 4hrs and we were pushing it but wasted time looking for answers. I'll do another run tomorrow (did 8.6km on Tuesday).

I've only been doing 10k runs at the max anyway and my knees have been quite sore internally from running but obviously nothing like yours.

I haven't used hotmail for years and I'm not sure it even still exists?

My Hotmail account doesn't (although people still send stuff there). I got locked out of it months ago and I need a security password to be sent to Tash's now defunct iinet email account to access it.
