Evalin is definitely good at that. One thing that helps, especially if you don't have all the years of running in thick terrain that Evalin has, is to always make sure you're looking up and scanning for good micro-routes. Makes a big difference.
Good training for that is to just go for a run in the woods, not necessarily orienteering. But I agree with Alex that it comes with experience
