Looks that this may be something for the Technical committee and maybe guidelines for major events i.e. don't load routes until after the last start or else.
Routes or maps? Problem for competitors is if it uploads as soon as you've finished (i.e. through mobile coverage) then people won't remember to not do it or to change their phone settings.
Case in point (on an unrelated example), we had our army swim test the other night and the instructor got everyone to check their pockets for mobile phones before jumping in. 95% of people immediately went about checking pockets (apparently carrying a phone is mandatory for life) and one person found one - this was a guy about to jump into a pool! Changing people's attitudes and/or habits is no easy thing (how many elites still wear a prohibited GPS at WREs?)
What was the reason for running the public before the schools? I thought they were normally done the other way around - and more or less for this reason.
Couldn't wake any of them up before 11am. They were all out at the pub the night before celebrating the first event.
The schools were quarantined with their phones taken away by 9.15. The rules have also changed with WRE and GPS watches. 'GPS devices with no map function or signal to aid the user in finding direction may be carried.'
Yes this I realise although only from this year ;-) (I've not run - or ridden for that matter - in any WREs this year unfortunately)
