Pink Socks:
Everyone got tricked.

The shortest-most variant going right is 253 meters. The shortest-most variant going left is 273 meters (8% longer)

I didn't see everyone leave #1, but when I was watching, I only saw two people go right: Stan Woods and Eric Jones, and neither one took the cleanest variant. I forget who took which, but one missed the fence gap just west of #1 and went all the way up to the next one north (shortest possible of what I saw is 268m).

The other one went through the best fence gap and left, and then changed course to the right at the SE corner of the first building, at which point it would have been shorter staying left than changing course (shortest possible of what I saw is 278m). My assumption for the re-route was that they thought the fence at #2 went all the way to the next building (it doesn't), so they didn't want to be trapped.
