For some reason, the only report that popped up about that for from a Seattle newspaper. With presumably three people to give statements they ought to be able to figure out what happened, but if the account in the story is true, it makes one wonder what led up to this.

Over 25 years since the previous one, right? I was just thinking that we're coming up on the quarter-century anniversary of the debut of Pawtuckaway.

Must be a slow news day in Seattle.

Wasn't the World Cup in '92? In that case, it would have been the prior fall. I hadn't thought about that incident in a long, long time until last Saturday.

It would not shock me if there were more to this story. Just to start with, you could think about the raw odds of someone coming across this scene while wearing a holster with a pistol. At this time of year, I would guess much less than 1%, for non-law enforcement people who are just driving around in a truck.

That's correct, the shooting at Pawtuckaway was in 1991, far enough back that I can't find any references to it on line. There's a stone bench or something there now, memorializing the victim.

I would have guess that way more than 1% of the people who drive around in trucks out there would be armed, but that's just the stereotype in my head. It also struck me that there could be more to it, but the article that Brooke linked to suggests there were even more witnesses, increasing the chances that discrepancies would show up if anything is being hidden.

I would not disagree with your guess. I was making a distinction between being armed and the subset of those armed with an open carry pistol.

Are ATVs licensed in Wyoming? Is there a chance that those ATV drivers could be found and testify? It might reveal why the dead man became so incensed, and was chasing and assaulting them.

I have no love of ATVs. So if the shooter's story holds up, it would be a shame that he gets away with murder on a 'self-defense' plea. Why didn't he just leave with the ATV kids once the assault ended?
