Do you think you'll get to go to the White House correspondents' dinner? Will you get to meet famous people? I'm picturing you like a Huma Abedin, behind the scenes in lots of high-profile meetings. :-)

Yes, I'm exactly like Huma, minus the sleazy husband. :-) NPR folks do go to the White House correspondents' dinner, but I doubt that will include me. That's more like the c-suite. But, I have already met Shankar Vedantam, host of Hidden Brain. He sits right around the corner from me. And I took an elevator up with Guy Raz the other day. So, as an NPR junkie before I had this job, it's very exciting!

We love Shankar, his stories are so well done, and interesting, I wish everyone would listen to what he has to say. Tell him to keep up the great reporting.

This is fantastic, I'm suddenly just two steps away from all these famous people (and therefore just three steps away from tons more). Say hi to Nina Totenberg when you meet her!

Pretty exciting!
I can't believe how fast you get a job/lose a job/get a new job. I know the losing part has nothing to do with you, but the getting part certainly does. Congratulations on the cool gig.
(Scott Simon is a fellow adoptive parent, so he's one of my favorites. :-)

The losing part is not fun! Hopefully that won't be happening again anytime soon. As for the "getting" part, I have decided that it is all in networking; it's who you know. So I take great care now to maintain those networks...just in case.
