Hi Earl,

Could be plantar fasciitis if on posterior medial sole (bottom, inside heel). Diagnosis and recup programs are easy to find on web. Or, quite less likely, 5th metatarsal fracture - on outside of foot. Early morning pain with weight bearing that improves with use suggests the first.

Thanks Bob, but the actual reason I couldn't put my heel down was because of pain in my calf. I strained the muscles there. It is on the mend though. I took it for a bike ride today and it seems it was the best thing I did for it.

Ice is good for a calf strain. Flexible re-usable ice packs are best, several times a day (6 or more times would be ideal)
