Always look to the right so that on your return it is a completely new view.

Don't know what you had with you for map/directions, but from the comfort of my home, it's so amazingly obvious that you just needed to follow the brook...

PG:
No map.
Click on the blue globe, change the map view to "Open Topo map." My cue sheet in this general area said, from when I was on Abijah Prince Road (how's that for a road name!)
Slight right on Packer Corner Road
And then immediately slight left on Packer Corner Road (this gets you properly on PC Road)
And then the next instruction was Slight right on River Road (the name the road takes in MA). No mention of the left turn I missed, because you were just staying on PC road.
And the problem was, the way I kept going was a much more proper road (for 100 yards, and then it turned right into a driveway) then the overgrown continuation of PC Road that I missed.
So it was a bit strange.
Not saying I shouldn't have figured it out....
