- primarily Gypsy Moths, preferentially feedin on oak, but they'll quickly move onto other species if the fungus doesn't start doing its thing pretty soon. Ag Exp Station is starting to see some caterpillar die off.

Wouldn't surprise me.. I think the primary reason the oaks often get hit early on is the bark texture is very attractive to the egg-laying females. So the caterpillars kind of get a head start on those.
....and then move on to other trees that they swing over to via silk threads. Saw a few hanging from a Cedar tree.
