So scary when pooches go exploring without us! When Tobler was recovering from spay surgery, she got bored and slipped out the front door when 'Bent opened it to get the morning newspaper. He grabbed the nearest footwear and dashed after her. We've always hoped no one was awake to see him sprinting along the centre line of the main street of town wearing nothing but a bathrobe and rubber boots!
When I was a kid, our dogs had free run of the world. But that was another time, in a more rural place, and they'd occasionally come home having tangled with a skunk or s porcupine. And it's nicer in the modem era where dogs never leave their yards to chase people on bicycles.
So close, but so far away!
How Pepper looks when she doesn't get what she wants...i.e., fox hunting.
Glad she came back!! At least she has that good sense going for her. I'm sure it won't be the last of her adventures, but it sure is a terrifying feeling when they take off.
It wasn't even the last of her adventures for this week! But luckily, she keeps making her way back home. :)
I love that Peppering is an activity type. Very glad she keeps coming home! That poor fox is probably equal parts traumatized and egging her on :)
She needs a friend. Must be lonely by herself. And the activity would be so much better with a mate - called Salt of course.
The dog across the street is named Casper, and his person has already started calling them Salt and Pepper.
And, I agree, she is probably a bit lonely by herself. Maybe that line will work on Roger. He used to say the same thing every time we got down to one guinea pig - X was lonely, and so we would get another. :)
We feel less guilty leaving the dogs at home when we go out because they have each other for company. Nudge, nudge. ;)
