I am due to put on the Suncoast Orienteering Championships on Apr 1. The problem is I have spent pretty well the last 10 days mostly on my back, unable to sit, stand or walk without extreme pain in my lowerr bck / buttocks. I'm getting therapy but am getting pessamistic I'll be back in shape to stage the event.
This is the big event for ouur area. I'd hate to have to cancel it.
Some people have stepped up to help. Bill Anderson has worked up some courses and Don Hall will be streamering Bill's control locations.
The host JROTC school, Robinson and their leader Eliott Berman will handle some 200 jrotc entries and the Start area. Blaik Mathews of FLO will handle the Results and Livelox.
So what do I need? Someone to come to the area to put out the controls in the correct spots and set up the start and finish areas, set out the road signs, clean up, pick up things afterwards.
Here is the tough part: I don't think I can pay your air fare or car rental. I can offer you a place to stay and feed you.
If you can fly United in to Tampa or Sarasota I may be able to contribute airline points but that is a long shot.
Interested ? Write me gordhun at rogers dot com

Thank you to those who responded to this request for 'emergency help' and those who considered helping. the 2017 Suncoast Orienteering Championships took place in a beautiful venue with beautiful weather and some 160 participants.
Thank you to Connor Frost of GAOC who was able to fly in for three days of helping. Thank you also to Florida orienteers who stepped up to help Connor.
A brief event report is here
Thanks also to the event taking place Suncoast Orienteering has contact with the park Friends group who are now interested in putting on learn to orienteer clinics and with an association of home schoolers who are often looking for fresh ideas for their students.
