Based on these two workouts, (about 25 minutes apart), what do you estimate my current mile time to be, if I ran in 2-3 days?
I don't know anything about your racing background lately, but based on these workouts you seem to be about where I (and Harry) am.
The speed is there (:83) so I'll go on record that you can run 6:04.
Have a race or TT planned?
Track, road, conditions?
I'd say you're in good shape to go sub 6:10
Go race!
I say with all the work putting in and psyched right...sub 6.
So far, so good. Thanks for your motivating comments. Since we live in a mile-race desert here, I might travel to a road race in Kansas. If that doesn't work out, try to set up a time trial. At this point, not having raced for quite a while, and climbing back up the speed ladder, its just to see whats up, and it would be realistic to be happy w sub 6:10 or even higher. If conditions are right though...Soup, you hit it w/ the 'psyched right' part, that's probably #1.
Hey, how about if you guys join me for a virtual TT just for fun, lets say anytime in the next 10 days?
I'm in!
Maybe we should age-grade it too. Dan Conway wants to test himself soon, but he's 79. I think he's ready for a 6:45. Hardcore can use his last track time, eh?
I'm probably going to be the slowest AG time... 62 years old and maybe a 6:10
Toivo, a 6:18 nets you a sub 5 age-graded. and Hardcore is at 4:26 w his 6:07! But the time or rank is not mainly the point, its to challenge ourselves to the best of our current abilities and show we are on our game! (even if the mile isn't our usual game:))
Spectating from afar- should be fun!
Rudy BTW, what's with the MN connection?
Found y'all on here. My theory is Minnesota just has a very high concentration of good masters runners.
Aha, good ol dAp
BTW saw Gary Patton yesterday run a 5:43.8 indoor mile age 72
Ah, I've seen him run a couple of times too, beautiful stride. In context of how few 70+ there are in the over/under neighborhood of 6 min, almost none. Example: on World master rankings 70-74, the tenth highest recorded time for outside mile in 2016 6:16:68 - thats for the whole world. Gary's time would be No.2, after his own time set at 70.
So Gary's time is supposed to translate to a 4:02 age graded mile. But think how many 4:02 milers are there, prob quite a few...so age grading in large part does not really recognize the accomplishments of the older master runners .
... true.
And just to recognize my training partner-Dan Conway-who ran 6:28 at 78 last fall. MN Mile into a headwind.
Strong performances indeed!
BTW Gary took bronze in the 800m and 1500m at WMAC in Perth (5:04 ishl)
based on the 3:05 800m Sat workout in the snow, I was going to say 6:15, 6:20 mile; but McMillan puts a 6:05 800 at 6:52 mile1 so I'm going with a solid 6:30.
Yep Rudy you have to submit to the AP 1600 time trial. I will do mine in May.
I didn't realize that was a thing.

Check out Toivo!'s time. More like a 1500 than a 1600:)
but that was in 2009. Anyway like they say in their thread, its not so much a throw-down as it is a means to check progress...which means one every once in a while, not just when you are in peak form, not just once a year...or once in 10 years?
Soup, if you do your TT in May, I will do my A-meet in 2018! Thanks for giving me an out from getting my a** handed to me.
Ha! I was just a kid of 55 or so.
I'll probably give it a go in the next month or so.
Hey Rudy 2018????? It's 2017, are you going to the Pig?
I signed up, but Joans mother is in hospice. If things look touch and go, I dont want to leave town for 3 days.
I understand. Hope she gets better and you show up.
Yeah sorry but I had to cancel.
