I went to bed at 28-3 thinking, poor Ian. I woke up and wondered how your heart was doing. You and your comrades in the whitehouse must be happy** with the result.
**Warning: Mild understatement.
The White House crew apparently went to bed when you did, Neil, inexplicably having no belief in come-from-behind victories.
We went to bed at the same point thus securing victory for the Pats with our absence.
I confess I gave up hope when the Falcons took a 28-3 lead in the third quarter, but I stayed up because watching Tom Brady play in the Superbowl is like watching art. I fortuitously happened upon the 1996 NBA finals on TV when I was young and witnessed Michael Jordan's consummate greatness. I see these years of Brady as similar to the second Bulls' threepeat. But I didn't start to hope until that strip sack in the fourth quarter.
Falcons on the Patriots 22 yard line with what four minutes left and up 8 points. three running plays or even three take a knee plays and the Falcons win the Super bowl and Ryan is MVP with a 40 yard FG. Bone head play calling by Shanahan.
If coaches call running plays, Tom Brady is just 3-4 in Super Bowls.
When was the moment the Falcons came to the realization, "we're screwed"? The strip-sack? The Edelman catch? The OT coin toss?
I think it was the strip-sack, just crushing.
I started paying attention again when Falcons were penalized on three failed NE third downs in a row.
oh and this....
