Are there any plans for a big orienteering weekend in Ontario, Quebec, Manitoba, or elsewhere on Thanksgiving (Oct 7-9) this year?
Does Canada do Thanksgiving? Or are they going to start it up, with the theme "Giving thanks for not having the same president"?
Canada's Thanksgiving weekend is similar to the one in the USA (which occurs in November) but it's held the weekend we "celebrate" Columbus's discovery of the New World.
I'm not sure it's as family-travel-centric as in the USA...
Until last year, there was usually a multi-day weekend event in Ontario or Manitoba on (Canadian) Thanksgiving. Very friendly for folks from northern parts of the US.
No big races on Thanksgiving this year in Ontario that I'm aware of. DontGetLost has bid/requested to host the Ontario sprint and middle distance champs (on same day) on October 21 in Niagara (I believe that is official now - not sure). Sunday Oct 22nd will be a non-champs 2-hour score-O race in the Burlington area.
