Judy must being doing more than anyone else in her class.
Judy just loves being in the forest. Doesn't seem to help her skill or speed any. Possible less prone to the really big mistake. Strangely she struggles with spur gully. Rock and mining she does better. Aislinn calls her technique "pin ball" orienteering. Difficult to use this in spur gully.
Mum is the biggest mystery. I don't understand how she can make those mistakes but still love going out orienteering! She is the true orienteering fanatic in the family (I'd rate her up there with Val Morrison who painted one wall of her house in control-flag colours...)
Julie just loves being in the forest. Running in the forest. Sometimes she enjoys it so much she forgets to navigate. If your love of orienteering is based upon results, its easier to lose interest. Look at the attrition from the ranks of elite orienteers as they age. If you just love running and navigating in the forest, its easier to maintain love of the sport.
I'm in that category - the longer I am in the forest the more I enjoy it, which doesn't help me get any better results!
