Did you deliberately go out of your way to find 7 instances thereof?
I think G & I managed 11 in one day between Ulm and Vanessa's (plus detours).

I went out of my way to look at mountains, but the large number of changes was just the way it worked out.

As long as it wasn't like the 4-trains-and-a-bus-Pecs-Zagreb-on-a-stinking-hot-day epic. I take it you returned to Geneva by a rather more direct route?

That day certainly wasn't a great advertisement for public transport in Europe...
Certainly did return by a more direct route - in fact even more direct than I had anticipated because there are direct trains from Winterthur (the nearest major station to the event) to Geneva - most of the Geneva-Zurich trains continue on through there to St. Gallen (and vice versa).
